David Bixler is an acclaimed American jazz alto saxophonist, composer, educator, and podcaster based in New York City. Known for his versatile musicianship, his work seamlessly bridges contemporary jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and traditional Irish music...Early in his New York career, Bixler toured extensively with the legendary big bands of Lionel Hampton and Toshiko Akiyoshi. He later served as the lead alto saxophonist for the Chico O'Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra. He won a Latin GRAMMY Award for his contribution to the recording Final Night at Birdland with the Chico O'Farrill Afro-Cuban Big Band. He serves as the Director of Jazz Studies at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and is recognized globally as an official Selmer and Vandoren Artist. He is the creator and host of the popular jazz podcast, Liner Notes with David Bixler.
